Mi 4C is Xiaomi's latest flagship smartphone

A 'flagship' when one talks about a gadget is normally a reference to a company's best device. The Mi 4C is what Xiaomi claims is its latest flagship. The company launched the product on Tuesday after a round of leaks and sneak previews.
The phone builds upon the design language introduced with the Mi 4i, which, the company announced back in March out here in India. In fact, externally, it looks identical, but the phone has received a brain transplant.
Instead of the rather mid range octa-core processor, now the Mi 4C gets Qualcomm's best 6-core CPU, which we've seen before even in the LG G4. The processor on the Mi 4i was subject to staunch criticism as it would overheat and often the phone would also slow-down. The upgraded processor, should at least in theory, fix all these issues.
The phone also gets the new USB Type C connector, but in tow with the fast charging capabilities.
The phone is available in two variants. One 16GB model with 2GB RAM and a 32GB version with 3GB RAM. The phone retains the 5-inch Full-HD IPS display, which has a variable refresh rate and offers class leading sunlight visibility as per the company's claims.
On the back, the phone has a 13-megapixel camera and Xiaomi goes out of its way to point out the quality imaging gear is from companies like Sony and Samsung. The front camera has a 5-megapixel resolution, but crucially, it has an 85-degree lens, which allows for at least 6-7 subjects in the same photo. The phone also has an IR blaster.
Lastly, the phone ships with a massive 3,080mAh battery, which according to the company offers great battery life. The phone runs on Android but as the key with Xiaomi's devices is the MiUI software customisation. Xiaomi claims that the phone will ship with the older Mi UI 6 but will get an update to Mi UI 7.
The phone will be available is white, grey, pink, yellow and blue, as we pointed out earlier in the day. The phone has a starting price of 1299 RMB, which is approximately Rs.13,400.
Currently, no release and pricing information for India has been announced.
